Clarence L. Becktell Jr. 79, Oblong, IL. Died at 9:20 p.m. Friday September 22,
2000 at his residence. He was born on February 13, 1921 in Robinson, IL.
Clarence was the son of Clarence L. & Virgil Mae (Mikeworth) Becktell Sr.
On June 7, 1942 he married Mary J. Lackey. He was an Army Veteran
of both WWII and the Korean conflict. He was a welder with Local #157 of Terre
Haute, IN. for 38 years, retiring in 1984. Clarence was a member of Dogwood
Methodist Church rural Oblong. He was a former member of E. M. Coulter
American Legion Post # 69 Robinson and Crawford County V.F.W. Post # 4549.
Clarence is survived by his wife Mary; Son - Paul; Grandchildren - Don &
Samantha Becktell and Kevin Becktell; 1 Great Granddaughter Sarah Brasher;
1 Brother& Sister-In-Law Lawrence & Betty Jo Becktell;
1 Sister and Brother-In-Law Mary E. & Bill Miller; 2 Brothers-In-Law Stanley
Novakoski and Robert Lackey; 3 Sisters-In-Laws- Mildred Bliss,
Oma Lackey, and Wilma Miller. Clarence was preceded in death by his Parents
and 1 Sister (Norma Novakaski). Burial was in Oblong Cemetery.
